Spotted - Princess of Polka Dots

"I painted boredom, which is more important in life than the sunlight the Impressionists painted." Yayoi Kusama

Yayoi Kusama is a legend and might quite possibly one of the coolest people in the world. After all, she has made quite an incredible living painting polka dots, repetitive patterns and doodles on unique forms! She was huge in the 60s and now she is back and on track! Not only do people like her keep the world interesting, stories like hers are so inspiring. Just goes to show you where a little creativity and courage can get you! She has an exhibition at the Whitney currently on now that is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area!

Welp.. according to social scientists, doodles have meanings! This site is quite interesting!! Apparently doodling circles represent a need to find unity and peace.

Check out 'Fireflies on the Water' currently part of her exhibit at the Whitney! So very cool!!

She is all the rage in fashion right now!! Have you been to Soho recently and walked by the Louis Vuitton pop up store on Greene Street!!? Since we forgot to take pics, we stole these pictures from Solifestyle.com. A fabulous fashion blog to check out!

From preliminary drawings ...

.. to .. polka dot explosion!!!

Take a peak at her fresh and very avant-garde fashion line..

Have a great day!!
